Our major
project, our webpage, will be entitled “Choices for Healthy Lifestyles”.
Different dimensions of Health will be examined—physical, psychological
(comprised of the cognitive and emotional), social, economic, spiritual,
environmental. Although these dimensions will be examined individually, Health
as a Holistic concept will be explained.
INTENDED
AUDIENCE:
The
information contained in this webpage will come from a course taught at
Douglas College to the Home Support and Resident Care Attendant students. It
is feasible that the webpage may become a prototype for the actual course
being offered online. If this did occur, our intended audience would become
the students registered in the program for a particular semester.
Anyone
interested in searching for information regarding choices for healthy
living.
LEARNING

Goals for site users:
to foster a sense of healthy living by exploring various aspects of "health"
to instill an understanding of holistic health in terms of everyday life
Our
goals are:
to create an online environment to be used as an educational resource for the course "Choices for Healthy Lifestyles" using objectives, content and resources from Douglas College
to
develop a professional and informative webpage that is organized, easy to
navigate, clear and interesting.
to
collaborate effectively and efficiently with team member(s) in this
production
PROJECT
SPECIFICATIONS
As the course "Choices for Healthy Lifestyles" exists as part of the Douglas College curriculum, we wish to create an online resource to compliment the lessons and activities on site. It is hoped that the web-based format can be extended to evolve into an online course offered to students at the college.
We will be using the objectives, resources and many of the on-site activities to form the bases of our website. Since we hope the site will eventually form the basis of an online course, it is not enough to simply offer the information directly based on the course curriculum. Thus, we will consider the following when creating our website:
Intended purpose
Learners
Design tools
Needs assessment
Instructional framework
Media
Evaluation
This webpage will have a specified expiration date due to issues around the content being part of the Douglas College curriculum.
Our project will consist of various pages connecting aspects of health as a holistic concept.
Although many different sections of healthy living could possibly be explored, we will keep our site to a maximum of ten pages to increase learner motivation and lessen the instance of information overload.
