Career Objective

I hope to obtain full time employment in the Caribbean.  Utilizing my training and experience, I wish to work in the computer industry in web-page maintenance and computer support.  I feel that my education and experience as a primary teacher will lend itself to a successful experience both in and outside of the education profession.  I am presently completing requirements for the Master of Educational Technology/Resource Minor at the University of Calgary.  As of the end of this summer, I will have completed the requirements necessary for graduation. 

Qualifications

Very enthusiastic teacher who demonstrates initiative and flexibility while carefully organizing lessons adhering to established objectives.  Widespread knowledge of technology especially relating to the area of technology integration into the curriculum.  Extensive experience in a Learning Resource Center, developing resource units and activities for students at all levels. Excellent skills using LibraryPro, cataloguing resources, and curriculum design.

Experience

Learning Resource Teacher: Avalon East School Board September 2001 – Present

Learning Resource/Technology teacher for Goulds Elementary which hosts 35 computers and a LAN NT network server.  Network administrator for the school, which encompassed trouble-shooting for workstations as well as for system, web page development and maintenance.  Co-ordinator for a Level 2 Grassroots Project, supervising eight staff members and involving 210 students as well as developing eight Resource-based units throughout the year.  The Block Project, which was awarded $5500 for the school, the highest monetary award offered with the Department of Education, can be viewed at:

Substitute Teacher: Avalon East School Board   April 2000 – June 2001

Flexible substitute who has enjoyed a close relationship throughout the school year with St. Kevin’s Elementary School.  Experience with all grade levels as well as school specialization such as Special Education, Challenging Needs, Learning Resources, and Technology.

Educational Programmer: Dept of Tourism and Recreation June 2000–September 2000

Twelve week Young Canada Works grant as an educational programmer for the provincial government.  Developed programs for two provincial historic sites, solicited children’s groups for tour/activity days, and trained staff for future use.

Volunteer Work

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Canada, June 2001 - Present

Volunteer for the Canadian CF conference being held in St. John's, June 2002.  Leaflet preparation, meeting and events co-ordination.  Participant in the North Atlantic Petroleum Highway Run in June 2001.

St. Kevin’s Elementary, September 2000 – June 2001

Volunteered in the St. Kevin’s Elementary School’s Learning Resource Center under the supervision of Ms. Marina Foley, Learning Resource Teacher.  Involved in all aspects of the center’s day-to-day operation.
