Paddy's Pub 7, Blue Star6: Luke
Stoyles scored at the buzzer to give Paddy's the win and sole possession of
first place. Stoyles, who had earlier scored on his own net to make the score
5-5, celebrated the winner with a double fist pump. Todd MacDonald, scored three
times and set up the winner, and was named Paddy's Pub/Labatt Lite Player of the
Game. Mike Abbott played excellent on defence and scored twice. Jim Rodden has
the other goal. Kirk Stoyles was solid in net. Phil Green scored
three times for Blue Star, earning Buck Weaver's POG honours. David Carroll, now
a full-time Blue Star member, scored twice. Paul Crane filled in for injured
Barry Whittle in net for Blue Star.
Denture Centre 12, Buck Weaver's 6: In
a huge upset, DC exploded offensively for their first win of the 2001 campaign.
Darryl Banfield and Shawn Webber scored four goals each and Andrew Sinnott had
two to lead the charge. Kevin Fitzgerald, playing defence, was named
Paddy'sPub/Labatt Lite POG. Fitzgerald was superb on the blue line and set up
several goals. Mike Kirkland earned the win in net, replacing injured Geoff
Peddigrew. Terry Philpott scored three times for BW and took home the Buck
Weaver's POG award. Eddy Power scored twice and Dave Penny had one....Dukes
Browne and Trevor Melendy both missed the game.
